You want an application, which you can use as a checkbook for all your accounts, and always stay aware of how much money is left on each of your accounts, and how it happened. You can import your banking records using your bank's OFX file or manually add entries that change balance on your accounts. You can schedule recurring transactions, sync your data between several iPads/iPhones, add both income and expenses, schedule delayed transaction and clear them later (feature known as reconcile), and see colorful charts, which represent activity of your accounts.
The way you work with the application (iPad experience):
Start with adding your accounts one by one and giving them their current balance. Do it in the left part of the screen (where you can see shelves) by tapping "Edit". Then start working with the right part of the screen (chalkboard) navigating between the sticky notes. Upper sticky note (green) is meant for regular transactions. Second sticky note (blue) is meant for recurring transactions. And the other two are meant for pie charts and bar charts. Extra features: export to HTML and CSV (Excel), sync with other iPads, import your OFX files, and set up a PIN code to protect your entries!
Design (iPad experience):
Stylish luxurious design, which reminds of a personal library room, which is one of the best environments to work with your papers and accounts. Add your accounts to the shelves on the left; add your transactions and see your charts from the chalkboard on the right. Navigate between recurring and regular transactions, and between pie charts and bar charts, using sticky notes attached to the chalkboard. Use the shelf under the board to work with extra features. The interface is easy to work with and helps you to concentrate on the idea of managing your accounts.

Some flaws
Like the way the iPhone & iPad sync so records match. But you can't fill in "paid to". You just list what kind of expense. Would be helpful to keep records of payees.
Not a Checkbook Register
If you are looking for a checkbook register, this is not the app. I have not found a simple checkbook register. If you know of one post it.

No payee field
No check number field
I imported a months worth of transactions on my iPad, then added current month transactions - synced with iPhone and now everything is a mess.
Looks nice on iPad, but obviously still a work in progress.
