Yes, it is a "free" app, so one shouldn't complain too much… except when you've bought the camera for this "feature," then find out that you need to buy another accessory card to make it work. The advertising and the demo videos are quite misleading. The app works as a "preview" for a shot, not as a viewfinder… the connection shuts off when you start recording. The bluetooth only stays connected for a minute or less, in any case. The demo video clearly shows the model "reviewing" his shot and the narrator states that you can use it to "make sure you've got the perfect shot." However, the system does not do this at all. You cannot review any footage that you shoot - only a brief preview before you start recording. Also, it cannot be used with the waterproof case (or any other unreachable mount) because you have to press and hold the "hidden bluetooth button" on the camera every time you start the app.
Great App!
I initially had trouble with the original app V1.0 working with iOS5. The new update to this app V1.5 solves the problem. The app is working great on my iPhone 3GS with iOS5!!!
The app is ROCKING NOW!!! If you update the app, you also have to update the firmware on the camera itself. Follow the instruction on the Contour website. Remember to power the iphone on and off after updating the app and the firmware.
The ability to use the iphone to view what the camera is looking at before recording is awesome. Also having the app to change the settings and video modes is the perfect solution for an action camera!!!
Four stars for the app. If they include playback on the iPhone with a delete function it will get 5 stars.
Four stars for the Contour GPS camera. If they fine tune the battery removal and mounts it will get 5 stars.
Very useful when working properly
Total must for setting up for the perfect shot. Use it every time I set up my Countour+ but for the last couple of months I haven't been able to make any changes to the camera settings through this app. Contour app crashes and that is frustrating. Hopefully they will keep upgrading and modifying this app!
