Pleasantly Surprised

I am working on a PhD and am writing my preliminary exams. I have struggled through many papers, not knowing how to organize all I read. This app has been wonderful. I never knew how important it was to me to be able to see things! Taking notes that I can look at together has made a huge impact!!! I love it! Not ready to write yet, but feel like my time reading is more productive when I have notes that I KNOW I'll be able to use!

Amazing App

I'm an organizational freak. I'm also a graphic designer who creates custom organizers. I have been searching for an application for YEARS what would allow me to create a digital organizational system to rival my paper based ones. I've tried EVERYTHING. Livescribe, Circus Ponies NoteBook, Evernote, MacJournal ... you name it and I've tried it. Nothing I have ever used works as well as this program does, plus the deisgn elements are fabulous. NoteBook is the closest thing to Curio but even in it's thrid incarnation NoteBook is still so full of bugs and glitches it's virtually useless for any kind of serious work. I fell in love with Curio from day one. There's plenty of built in support and a community of people starting to develop templates to make the program even better. If you want to give the program a whirl first, go to the Zengobi website by clicking the link in the upper right corner of this page. You can download a trial version and request an extended trial period. Once you decide to buy, which, trust me, won't take long at all; you can purchase from the app store or go back to the Zengobi website and purchase the program directly from them. I personally HATE the app store. I've had nothing but problems with my purchases and since I run multiple computers from an external hard drive all of the apps I have purchased only work on the system I used to download them. This download from Apple was no exception, a different version with a different name was installed and I had nothing but trouble with it. The copy from Zengobi's website worked flawlessly however. You also get a license key if you purchase it directly from Zengobi -- one more thing Apple does not provide. All my grumblings about Apple aside, THIS IS A GREAT PIECE OF SOFTWARE AND WORTH MORE THAN TWICE THE PURCHASE PRICE. They also have a couple of other versions with additional capabilities. You can compare them on the company's website. If you need a fabulous freeform digital organizer that you can mold to your needs this is the program for you. It certainly was the find of the century for me.

Bait and Switch

I downloaded the trial version before buying and loved it. What I did not see the big things not available on the Mac App Store version. There is no Evernote intergration and the Slueth feature (allows in app searches for internet info) is gone too. Also there is no upgrade path available to this version.
Further when I viewed the help video for this product, a link on the splash screen when you first launch the app, and it covered these functions in detail along with several others not present in this version. The developer really needs to make a getting started video specific to this verision to show what it can do. As it is now I would not recommend it.
