DOES NOT WORK IN iOS 4
If you are running iPhone OS 4, do not buy this game. You will not be able to play it. The controls do not display on the screen or respond if you press where they should be. This makes the game impossible to play.
Verified on 3 unique users phones running iOS4. Runs fine on 3.1.2
Sniff sniff I won't cry!!!!
I have such fond memories of this game. When I was a kid in the 80s my Saturday afternoons were spent watching Kung Fu theatre on tv then running to the local arcade to play Dragon's Lair!!!! I can still remember the day I finally rescued the Princes and received pats on the back from my buddies as well as total strangers. That was a long time ago. I am now 40 married and a father with responsibilities but this app takes me back if only for a moment when I life was carefree that being said I am gonna change my son put him duwn for the night and relive my youth.
Fun Game with Some Problems
I can't say how it compares to the original as I (*gasp*) have never played the arcade version. However, knowing what the game was about, I was pretty pleased overall.
However, it doesn't seem like the arrows always register. In a few levels, I had the pattern memorized and the timing was on, but for whatever reason it didn't seem to work and I'd have to start that level over again. I guess that's another point in the favor of actual buttons rather than touch screen controls.
But here's the biggest problem I encountered. I played this game for about an hour and got to the last scene. Just as I was about to get to the end, a message popped up on my iPhone to let me know I only had 20% of my battery life left. No big deal, right? WRONG! Instead of pausing the game, this RESET THE GAME! Yes, just as I was about to finish it... Come on guys, this is basic programming stuff here; how could you have messed that up? An hour of gameplay down the drain...
However, for five bucks, I'd still recommend the game. Just make sure you have plenty of battery life left and hope for a patch.
