Really good but needs a few more features
Special needs parents like us, speech therapists, schools, are all anxiously awaiting an ipod/ipad app. for text-to-speech (typing) communication. The ipod/ipad platforms offer wonderful portability, but to date the speech apps were limited to icon-based use. This program is a very good effort at a true text-to-speech program for the ipod/ipad, but a few features would make it much better. First, many of us need a way to hide the control keys so the user (often kids) cannot mess with the settings. The other necessity is prounciation control since this was written in England. Still, this is an good app as it is, but with great potential. I would pay more for an app with these additional features.
Great App
I used this after I had surgery on my vocal cords and had to be on complete vocal rest for one week and limited voice use for another week. I still use it when my voice is tired. There are a couple quirks with volume and sometimes I had to spell things out phonetically (like iPad I had to spell "eye pad" for it to sound right), but minor inconveniences for how helpful the app is. The British accents are okay, I didn't mind them at all.
Well worth $ 1.99!
Hey y'all
This app is amazing, due to a car wreck I am handicap and not CURRENTLY able to clearly vocalize, got an iPad for Christmas an got Easy Speak. Is there no upgrade to different voices. I'm from Mississippi; isn't there a souther voice? Instead of the British man, I'm just sayin' or at least more men's voices?
