Eschewing conventional leveling for a proficiency system that allows players to tailor their characters' growth, and incorporating a key term memory system that makes dialogue integral to gameplay, this game sparked the spirit of innovation for which the series has become known.
This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Rebirth and the Arcane Labyrinth.

Absolutely masterful.
If you are an even remote gamer, you know about Final Fantasy. This series is literally one of the major reasons video games became such a phenomenon they are now. This one specifically also introduces you to the Chocobo and Cid Highwind
This version introduced a new combat system that was more fine tuned to a real life situation, you train, and you get better in that area. It was a hit or miss and required grinding... alot of grinding. It's no problem though because the music and combat is fun. Touch response is amazing and you will never do an action you didn't plan on doing.
The music comes from a time when video games couldn't use voices to convey emotion, so instead they turned to music to do it. Nobuo Uematsu, the god of music was behind the scenes on this one. You will become addicted to some songs, always humming along.
The adventure is epic and fun. Unlike the new games where it can take upwards of 25-40 hours of gameplay before you know who the real bad guy is, you know right from the start in this.
The game can easily take at least 20 hours to complete, but for completionists you're looking at 40+ hours more.
I can't recommend this game enough. It's worthy of the price tag. Aside from Zenonia 1 & 2 this is the best RPG on the itunes market.
