Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics.
Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come.
This edition also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time.

Really? This just made me love my iPod more then my own child....
Should have gone back to QA for another month
I've been anticipating this for some time but I honestly wish they had waited another month or however long to do this right.
* Screen doesn't rotate the other way, and most important controls are on the left, making this extremely uncomfortable to play with headphones on
* Font rendering is awful. Letters like y, g, etc. make dialogue look jarringly unprofessional.
* Controls overall are clunky. Selections don't "stick" until you tap and hold. The buy button in stores only works when it feels like it. Battles are overly tedious because of tap and hold. Virtual D-pad is overly strict and the effective borders are by the graphic's area rather than extending to a square area at the edge of the screen and top/right like they should to compensate for the lack of precision when you don't have a physical pad to press. You can't just tap attack twice to attack the first target.
* Speaking of tap to hold the background indicator that something was tapped is ugly.
* Font sizes are inconsistent and sometimes way too tiny. When you win a battle it's way too small, for instance. Many places in the interface suffer from the minimum font size being way too small.
* It seems they made this version even EASIER than the other remakes. My whm/blm/blm/blm party isn't even a challenge anymore it's a required difficulty baseline to keep the game interesting. (I wish in all remakes there was a classic mode with the old mana system, ineffective attacks, etc. like the original.)
* Performance needs tuning. Popcap proved with Plants vs Zombies that you can have incredible performance and responsiveness in an iPhone game. Inconsistent load times and the occasional crash are :(.
This game could blow everyone away with some tweaks. I hope to see an update soon!
