The forager's friend is a cool app for sharing the locations of wild food and useful wild plants. The forager's friend allows you browse the locations of edible and useful wild plants near you, and add new sightings to the map.
Features:
1. Browse edible and useful wild plants on the map
2. Share the locations of wild plants you have found
3. Find the plants nearest to your current location (requires GPS)
4. Learn about the edibility and uses of up over 7000 plants in our database
5. View photos of plant sightings contributed by other users.
Please note that information such as plant edibility rating, medicinal rating and other details should only be taken as a guide. We strongly recommend to seek expert medical advice before consuming any item marked on the map.
This application supports iPhone and iPod touch with iOS 4.1 or above. This application requires internet connection.

Not much of an app
The description claims there is a database but there is no way to access it. The screenshots also show a search screen which doesn't exist. As far as user submitted sightings there doesn't seem to be enough users to make it worthwhile (at least in the U.S.) This app works as a great map though!

I have been searching my butt off for an app just like this, and I've finally found what I wanted by chance tonight with this app.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be many users at all (at least in the US, not sure about other countries).
I think this app has so much potential. I'm going to recommend it to friends and on some related forums I am a member of.
Brilliant idea
If everyone was to use this app no one would go hungry
