Description
Galileo Offline Maps is a universal iOS application for travellers. It's fully compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
You always have a choice - use the free version equipped with essential features or complete the configuration with enriched functionality through in-app purchases. Decide for yourself which of the two suits you better.

FREE FUNCTIONS
The free version supports some basic map features - such as automatic map rotation, GPS tracking, map caching, online search and social sharing.
You can use Galileo Offline Maps to view maps from 11 sources each tailored to a particular purpose (tourism/walking, driving, cycling etc). Caching is always on - the app saves the map tiles of areas you browse through and keeps them handy for offline usage. So Galileo Offline Maps lets you spare cell phone charges.
PAID FUNCTIONS
If you would like to use a large number of pre-generated maps offline, please look closely at the "Import Maps from PC" feature. It allows you to upload offline maps created on your computer and use them within the application.
"GPS Track Recording" allows you to save your movements, view statistics and export to the most widely used formats: KML, GPX, CVS.
Another useful feature is "Bookmarks" - drop pins and save some search results for future use.
There is also "All-in One Feature Pack", which makes all current and future features enabled on all your devices forever (you should use the same AppleID).

What's New in Version 2.0.3
Bugfixes:
* Offline maps are being stored in "Documents" folder have been excluded from backup by reason of its large size. At the same time all bookmarks, tracks and caches are included in backup, so you could restore them without data loss. (Note: this fix works only for devices with iOS 5.0.1 and newer ones).
* Far jump out of current location on highest possible zoom level by double tap is fixed.
* Semi-transparent map tiles are drawn correctly now.
* Size of big offline maps are shown accurately in Cache Info.
* Dates of old tracks and bookmarks are shown properly in list.
* Devices without multitasking won't fall asleep while you're recording a track.

Galileo Offline Maps
This program does exactly what it is supposed to do. However, to use it, you must follow instructions carefully. If you want to make a set of offline maps, you have to use mobile atlas creator, and you have to buy the import map feature within the app. Your maps can then be loaded into Galileo. Google maps was removed as a map source in version 1.9 of mobile atlas creator for copyright reasons, but it is still available in the previous version. I just searched Google for version 1.8 of mobile atlas creator and downloaded it. Google maps was then available as a source. However, I got an error message when I tried to convert to an sqlite database file, which is needed for Galileo. There is a library that you must download and place in the mobile atlas creator directory. This is mentioned in the documentation for Mobile Atlas creator. After that, it worked beautifully, and I have offline maps of any region I choose on my iPad. The Galileo website has a help file for making offline maps and importing them, which was a big help. This program is excellent.
No Response To Support Inquiries
I had difficulty getting the app to work offline. It was very disappointing. I contacted the developer via support link and supplied detailed information regarding my experience however, now two weeks later, I have yet to receive a response.
BUG
Dealing with the offline map, current layer's cell under 100m scale appears appropriately. But when the map is moved to other cells they are not viewable.
