Exactly what I wanted
Thanks for making this. It is exactly what I was looking for and at a very reasonable price. Offline access and auto syncing of my Google Tasks. The author is very responsive to users and has done a great job. Much nicer new icon too!
Does what it should after 10/23/09 fix; needs UI improvements
NOTE for v1.3: If you bought the previous version before the 10/23/09 fix, and the App Store update doesn't work, un-install and re-install the app from scratch. I did this via my iPod (not iTunes, so I can't vouch for that) and it worked. My credit card was not charged again.
I have an iPod Touch (not an iPhone) and use Google Tasks frequently. I needed an app that would allow me to add and update tasks offline and sync the changes later when in a wi-fi zone. If that's your situation I recommend this app (even though it's not an official Google app). However it definitely needs some UI improvements. Fortunately Denis (the developer) seems to be actively engaged with incorporating his customer's requests. This latest update (1.3) reflects that and I hope to see the trend continue.
CONS/ IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED:
-Adding a new task should be 1 step straight into the keyboard, not 2 steps. (Although it used to be 3 steps, so this is an improvement).
-Editing task details (task name, due date, notes) should be 1 step straight into the keyboard, not 2 steps. In other words, lose the Edit button.
-Currently no way to re-order tasks.
-On the home screen, there's a bubble on the top corner of the icon that looks like you have new notifications or something (compare to Mail or Facebook). I think it's supposed to indicate the total task count. But I find it distracting and would prefer to see it go away.
-Friendlier error messaging when offline would be nice.
PROS:
-Does what it should (see above).
-Now you can delete tasks.
-Green checkboxes indicate tasks are synced; red checkboxes, not synced.
-Better designed home screen icon.
-Developer seems dedicated to constant improvements and listening to his customers (at least for now).
There is also a new "Sort by Date" button which seems to work fine. I believe Denis will incorporate more functionality into this button for the next update.
Just What I Was Looking For (after about 10 other task apps)
This app is cutting edge! The developer took the time to unravel google's APIs for tasks and has given us highly valuable access. I had been looking and looking for an app that I could use to organize tasks, and I just wasn't finding anything that suited my needs. Finally, Memengo released this app, Gee Tasks. After he worked out the quirks for foreign accounts (both accounts started in a foreign country, and accounts accessed from a foreign country), I have been able to integrate an elegant, yet simple, tasks app into my life. I especially like that I can access and create tasks through my email or my iPhone. Another feature I appreciate is the ability to create new tasks even when I'm not connected to the internet (they'll sync as soon as I connect to the internet and open the app). Moreover, Denis, the developer, is incredible at support and responding to emails. Additionally, he has plans to make the app even better, including delete and grouping functions. This is really a fantastic app!
