Should be a zero

Any paid app that still puts ads at the bottom is a total ripoff. Like this one. Avoid. Maybe they'll get the message

ADVERTISEMENTS!!! Grrr

Ok. So right after I finally pony up and buy the paid version of the app, they added advertisements to the web portal. That reflects on the app.

Drives me bonkers that I shell out $4 for an app and still get blasted with ads. I just might want a refund so I can go with a cheaper app that has no ads at all -- even on the website.

I otherwise like the app, but refuse to rate it higher until this is taken back off.

Pretty good, but could be just a little better

It does what I need it to do, and most importantly meets my major requirements that it allows multiple stores, per-store aisle information, and then shopping sorted by aisle.

(1) Auto-capitalization for item names has it On For Every Word Which Is Kind Of Annoying, but for brand names (that are typically capitalized for Every Word), it's off -- go figure.
(2) The Unit of Measure and Packaging Type screens have the "Add New" at the bottom of the screen yet the Category screen has "New Category" at the top.
(3) While you can edit categories in the app, there's no way to edit Units of Measure nor Packaging Types -- even those you added yourself. You have to use the web portal for that.
(4) The web portal is (a) pretty slow, (b) doesn't remember your preferences, and (c) default sorts in item entry order which is useless.
(5) The bar-code scanning while cool in concept is unusable in practice since the bar-code database has item names that contain weird abbreviations, are in all CAPITAL LETTERS, and are overly long. For example, instead of something like "DR PEPPER 12 OZ 6 PACK" I would want "Soda" in the name field, the quantity/size information in the Quantity field, and "Dr Pepper" in the Brand field -- not all crammed into the Name field. So after you scan an item, you have to edit the name. You might as well have just entered it from scratch and not scanned the bar-code in the first place.
(6) The app doesn't respect the user's Settings > Sounds > Keyboard Clicks preference which means it always clicks -- annoying if you prefer no clicks.
(7) There's no way to import or export all your shopping list data.
(8) Adding your own item photos is a bit tricky since the scaling/cropping/rotating of a photo is a bit jerky so it's hard to get the photo just right.

Despite all that, it's the best such app that I've found so far. They could easily fix most of the issues above. However, if I found a better app, I'd switch.
