Description
Growl is the is ultimate notification system for the Mac. It's the easiest way to know what is going on with other applications while you are working on something else.
One day we were working with pictures in iPhoto while waiting on an important email to arrive. Every time an email came in, it interrupted our iPhoto work when we switched to Mail. We had no idea what each email was, we just had to keep clicking back over to Mail every time there was a new email. At the end of the day we decided that we needed a solution to this problem, and thus Growl was born (For Mail integration you will need GrowlMail).
Never before has there been an anything that personalizes notifications in such an effective way. You can receive notifications in several ways, such as on screen, via email, or even have them spoken to you. Plus if you know a bit about web technologies (CSS/XHTML/Javascript) then you can make a Growl style look how you want it to.

This "upgrade" is just as broken and useless as the previous version. Don't be fooled by the "support" link; there is no option for getting actual support or contacting the vendor. You're stuck with junk. Do not waste your time or money.
Don't waste your money on this.
I have used Growl on many platforms for many years. Thanks to Apple and this developer, this new version of Growl no longer functions with any of my applications that use it. If there was any way to get a refund I would do it. Don't waste your money! I trusted the developer and Apple; from now on I will be much more careful about buying any MAC / OSX app.
Worse with every update?
So, the claimed fixes are not there and there are now other bits of brokenness as well, like prefs window not opening the first time you use the menu coice and then opening w/o tabs. And of course when you use the menu to look at old alerts, they also open the prefs window.
So, what is the new fee actually buying? Nothing tangible. Maybe one of these days a working version will pop up in the App Store, but it is not there yet.
