So good!
I really enjoy using Guitar Tone. Especially for classic lower gain tones. The selection of amps are great. Other apps don't have many of these amps that Guitar Tone has. The effects are fantastic. The reason for only four stars is simply because it takes a bit more time to tweak a setup to sound the way I want it to sound as compared to a couple of other great amp apps. Also, and this is the main reason for only four stars, is the lack of an effective noise gate.
Weak sound compared to other apps
Although I only checked out the included amps & effects, I have messed around with many a PC and iOS guitar interface. I have to say that the sound QUALITY here reminds me of a less developed freeware VST. You'll see with the distortion....No rich depth, and sounds synthetic (in a bad way). Maybe it could sound decent with an amp that has its own ability to edit sound, but through headphones or a line out speaker, its not really sounding real. More specifically it sounds narrow and small as opposed to stereo wide. This can be a problem when you were looking to use strictly mobile devices. Maybe it needs a headphone mode and an amp mode.
Granted it's free, and maybe purchasing other in-app pedals/amp packs gives a closer to authentic sound, but even looking at the pictures of the pedals with the amp, you can see what you'll experience in that there is a max of 3 pedals you could use at one time, which is limited IMO. As such, I am not inspired to try more.
The thing that gets me is that I have the feeling that the creators want to make this a good product, so I write this not to say I hope no one else uses it, but rather, I hope it would develop further beyond where it is now. More authentic sound and more simultaneous pedals is a good start.
