Characterized by vignettes, blurring, over saturation, discolored images, Hipstaprints have a casual and seemingly accidental snapshot feel. The Hipstamatic can be downloaded to any iPhone sporting the 3.1 or beyond software update. For $1.99 you can download the base model Hipstamatic 110 which includes the John S, Jimmy, and Kaimal Lenses, as well as Blanko, Ina's 1969, and Kodot Verichrome film and a standard flash option complete with humming sound. Pictures taken with the Hipstamatic have their very own look and unique character. ORIGINAL HISTORY
-----------------------------------------------
Back in 1982, the Hisptamatic was legendary- well, with at least a few hundred small town kids in Wisconsin. Known for its ability to swap lenses and take multiple film formats, this plastic camera was well on its way to being a big deal. Sadly less than 200 cameras were produced. Today, a digital reproduction is brought to the iPhone with lots of added features.
Welcome back Analog!

Thanks for considering the Hipstamatic, and we hope to see your HipstaPrints online real soon!
Sincerely,
The Hipstamatic Team

Neat, but be Aware
This is a cool app. Nothing you couldn't do with Photoshop, but its so convenient in the iPhone and the UI is so fun that it's worth it.
One thing you should be aware of though. Don't think that you will automatically get all these effects when you buy the app. Sure, you get a couple, but what they are really doing is selling each extra "type" of film, lens or flash for .99 cents more, within the app. So you'll find that as you use it, you'll need to buy more effects to really make it useful. They are simply trying to make a buck like everybody else. Nothing really wrong with it. It just might take you by surprise since they are not REAL obvious about it and could make some people mad.
I'd say this is a neat app, but in your mind, try to think of it as costing like $8 instead of $1.99.
My fav camera app
I experiment with a lot of camera/photo apps and there are some great ones out there... this has quickly become one of my favs.
While the pics might seem 'novelty' to some, I found myself drawn to the uniqueness of the prints enough to want to snap everything with Hipsamatic. Some of the results are unexpected, but very cool which I like.
UI is clean and very straightforward - using the camera is a breeze. One of the prominent features might put some people off - the ability to swap lenses, flashes and film via in app purchases. At first I was weary since it meant a commitment but literally within a few minutes of purchasing the app I bought all the hipstapaks. If the developer continues to extend the functionality of the app, I'm ok with dropping 99 cents now and again. Trust me, i dont like to spend anymore than you but sometimes its worth it So far I've invested $5.99 for a 'fully loaded' Hipstamatic and I have no buyers remorse whatsoever.
This is my first App Store review, hopefully it was helpful.
Btw, people are posting pics on the Hipstamatic Facebook page if you want to peep some shots first. It probably won't be long before a Flickr group is started (hint hint)
My new most favourite app!!
I love my hipstamatic. It turns everyday objects into absolute awesomeness!
The previous reviewer states that this ends up being a $12 app, but this is NOT TRUE. The camera itself is $1.99 and comes with one flash, two films and two lenses. After purchasing the camera you have the option of purchasing two more film and lense packages. The 'Williamsburg' package contains the Helga Viking Lens, three colored flashes and the Pistil film. The 'Portland' package contains the Lucifer VI lens and a special B+W film. The cost for each package is $.99! I'm crossing my fingers for additional lens/film packages, but right now, this is a $4 app if you purchase all of the available extras.
