"The bells-and-whistles of this app are what make it a must-buy, from grocery lists you can email to how-to illustrations. Bittman also makes it nearly impossible to mess up a dish—each recipe step has a built in timer so there’s less chance you’ll forget how long your osso bucco has been cooking."

Excellent App

I own the book. This takes it to a whole new level. I wish more apps were this comprehensive. ~m

Excellent and Handy

It's easy to search and find a specific recipe and great variations. I use it often!

Tremendous variety

Edit: needs iCloud note & favorites syncing support. -1 star until then :)

I'm impressed with the variety of recipes. It's like a true record store with enough variety to keep customers interested for HOURS. And wanting to buy dozens of albums. And taking some home. Anyway, the recipes are great because they use hyperlinking properly. That is, if a recipe calls for a sauce, it's linked, and if you tap it, it brings it into view while keeping the recipe you're working with in view. So instead of hunting for that one special recipe that includes how to prepare its sauce, you can find the sauce as a standalone or linked from recipes. How To Cook Everything also has great discussions on many recipes and Bittman's personal touch on most. About the only issue I've had is accidentally turning on a timer when swiping to view more of a recipe. I hope more updates are coming! Awesome app and super useful. Great unexpected Breads and Sauces sections! And very helpful kitchen hints, tips, and illustrated methods sections (though I think the artist had trouble drawing chicken breasts, but s/he did an admirable job). I'm not too sure about Bittman staring at me, begging for me to listen to his tips, every time I open the app ;-)
