iAssist Communicator

Description

The iAssist Communicator was designed for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Unlike other iPhone - iPod Touch applications, the iAssist Communicator is specifically focused on the needs of young learners and individuals on the autism spectrum and others who are more cognitively challenged. With the unique needs of these individuals in mind, the application incorporates photos rather than more abstract drawings, larger images and functional language. Additionally, since the program was designed by a parent, every effort was made to create a program that is easy to use and customize. And 10% of adjusted gross income will be donated to non-profit autism organizations!

FEATURES

Images - The program is pre-loaded with 240 images and associated audio files.

User uploaded Images and Audio - Images and recorded audio can be added to customize the programs to meet specific learning and communication needs (Note: iPod touch requires external microphone)

Template Files - Application comes with 48 template files. Each has a home image/audio and 4 linked images/audio. Files were developed to facilitate communication of wants/needs and as educational tools to increase expressive and receptive language development.

Change Home Page Templates - The four home page files can be changed to other pre-loaded or user created files.

Edit Template Files - Pre-loaded file templates can be edited. The “save-as” feature keeps the original file intact and allows multiple variations of the file as the users developmental needs change.

Create Files - New files can be created using the pre-loaded image library or photos from the devices Photo Albums (iphone can capture using built-in camera function).
