WEIGHT TO VOLUME CONVERSIONS

What is so special about weight to volume conversions?

When converting from weight to volume it is important to take into account the ingredient you are converting. As you know, a cup of sugar does not weigh the same as a cup of rice. Furthermore, a particular brand of sugar may weigh different from another. This is all made easy with Kitchen Calculator PRO.

So, how does Kitchen Calculator handle weight to volume conversions?

1.It comes with a database of common ingredients based on weight figures from the USDA (US Department of Agriculture).

2.It allows you to quickly enter and save your own ingredient weight for more precise conversions. In many cases, you can enter the values right off the product label, using fractions!

3.Kitchen Calculator will remember any saved ingredient information for future conversions.

NOTE: The preset ingredient list is based on USDA (US Department of Agriculture) figures and are approximate values. They may differ from the ingredients you use. For precise calculations we recommend entering the weights for your ingredients and, whenever possible using a scale.

Excellent

At first look-thru, this app looks like it was worth every penny. Very well-conceived and very well-executed. This thing is almost like having the Book of Yields in your pocket for a couple of dollars. Fabulously useful and customizable. Great for costing and conversions. The one thing I would add would be a direct costing feature that allowed you to input prices for ingredients and get dollar amounts for any given measurement. Fo instance, one would be able to input the current price of whole almonds, say $32/lb for organic, and then ask the app to cost 10 c of almonds at this price. Of course the next step would be to enable users to build and cost entire recipes, plugging in each ingredient, and getting a cost for the entire recipe, scalable to serving numbers and the whole works. Now that would be an app every professional would want to have!

Very useful

As a pastry chef I weigh all my ingredients instead of using volume measures because weighing is much more accurate. In baking, accuracy is necessary. This app is indispensable to me as I use it to convert volume measurements of ingredients to their weight equivalents. My only question to the developers of this app is why haven't you developed an iPad version yet? I use my iPad to store my recipes, & this app would be a great addition. It would also be really convenient to have a much bigger version of the app as well since my aging eyes have difficulty reading the iphone version.

Ok App, not what I ws looking for

Not what I was looking for. It worked to convert from one type of measure to another. Or one ingredient portion size. I need something that will convert portion size for a whole receipe, not just one ingredient.
