Great App BUT BEWARE when restoring your phone!!!
Great app… But I just lost everything! Bought a new iPhone 4S. Backed up my old iPhone and then transferred everything to the new 4S. When I opened up my DATaVault there was nothing there! Then I looked at the FAQ in DATaVault and found out that you can't just back up the phone, you need to back up your files inside of the app as well and then restore that data file inside the app once you have restored your iPhone. I think this is a nice feature to have, but it would be even nicer if I was made aware of that BEFORE I made the transfer. Now I have thrown away the piece of paper in my wallet that had all my passwords, lost everything in the app, and now have to retrieve them all again at each I individual vendor/site and type them in again to this app. This is hours of agony that could have been avoided.
Do NOT buy this app, use something else instead
There are a lot of password managers out there and there is no reason to use this one. The app feels like it's slapped together without any thought for the user. The purpose of a password manager is to solve a user convenience problem: it is not a technical thing. Therefore the utility of it is measured entirely in user experience terms, and by that standard, this app is terrible. I mean, come on, they wrote it with spelling autocorrect on the username and password fields! It automatically capitalizes your password for you, how helpful! Come on guys, it takes NO effort to write your code with text fields that don't have autocorrect, it's just a setting in the developer kit. So the fact that you didn't do it either means you are clueless, or you just don't care.
On top of that, there's no way to know in advance that it's going to delete all your data when you get a new phone. Sure, they're going to say "well, if you read the instructions there's a way to prevent that" but why would you ever even think you needed to? My advice, skip this one and use something else. I wish I could ask for my money back, this app has been worse than useless for me because I changed all my passwords to crazy, impossible to remember stuff because I thought I could trust this app… and now I'm stuck out of every web site…
Sure, there are plenty of things about this app that work well. But anything good about this app, is just going to be the same as any other password manager app. So skip this one.
Highly recommend
Have been using DV on PC and Blackberry some time now and am very happy with it. Easy to use, sync, backup, etc. Good peace of mind for an important security vulnerability we all face.
Recently installed iPad version, which went very smoothly and allows me further convenience, since access many sites from each device at various times. Haven't played filled with this version yet, but like what I see so far and if it's as goodmas others and as smooth as the install, I'll be over the moon.
Do yourself a favor -- get this!
