Description
[Version: 2.2.4] - iOS Requirement 4.2 or higher
Known Issues:
1) When using the delete key, holding it down will delete full sections/elements of writing. Please delete with caution. Do not hold down the delete key when deleting. We are looking into this issue.
2) Importing an .fdx file via iTunes MAY cause the app to crash. We are working on the fix for this now.

Delicious!
*** First off - to all the One-Star Asshat Haters out there - whenever you rate a program "one-star", you're killing indie development. Do you really want Final Draft to be the only game in town? Do you really want to pay hundreds of dollars to write a professional screenplay? REALLY? Because when you rate a program "one-star", their overall ranking in the App Store goes way down, and then they get fewer and fewer customers, which gives them less money, which affords them less time to work on this (probably outside a normal day job to pay the bills.)
I'm in no way affiliated with Filter and I'm not an App Developer either - I'm just a screenwriter who loves what he does - and I greatly appreciate these writers taking the time to develop a beautiful and insanely cheap alternative to the big, pink elephant in the room. You should be grateful too - so stop leaving "flunking" reviews if you're experiencing bugs. They're working on it.
*Phew. Now that I got that off my chest! On to my quicky review:
Hats off to Filter for creating a capable screenwriting program - for 5 MEASLY BUCKS!
Is it perfect? Nah, but it is smooth, and actually has less quirks about it then some desktop behemoths I've used...
I've emailed the developers a few suggestions, but this app is well on its way, and I can see myself crafting a feature-length on it. I really do - bravo!
Leaves Final Draft Dead in the Water! I love this App.
if you do not yet have a screen writing program, start with ScriptWrite. Why? I have been a Final Draft customer since their inception in 1991. In the multiple decades of loyalty, I have been forced to upgrade Final Draft multiple times because of Apple OS X Updates at $99 each time. All software needs to be updated but when the only required new feature is compatibility it makes me upset. ScriptWrite is NOT Final Draft, but it is very, very good. In a few Days Lion OS X will be released, I just received email, as a registered customer of Final Draft that WARNS I must Upgrade to Version 8 (I have version 7) for $79 because version 7 will NOT work with OS X Lion! Final Draft does not have a version NOW that will work with Lion, but Final Draft 8.02 will, when it is released, "soon". There are many who love Final Draft, myself included, but if you do not yet have a screen writing program, start with ScriptWrite. It exports to and can import from Final Draft! This is huge. I award 5 Stars while I await an iOS version better than this one. I take my ipad everywhere!
Disappointed, non functional for its purpose
There are good reviews being posted so I was eager to try this as it was rated higher than the other screenwriting apps. However, the margin issues mentioned by someone are what render this app worthless. The purpose of a screenwriting app or software is to format the script for the writer so he or she can focus on writing. This does not do that. Examples: when backspacing from one line to the previous line, the cursor does not word-wrap to the line above. This is for both dialogue and action lines. Also, any word that is longer than the right margin makes the margin pointless. It will keep allowing you to type on the same line instead of moving the word to the next line as this comment box I am typing on does or hyphenate the word as some utilities do.
Since this does not keep your script in proper formatting and the fact that deleting text is a pain, this is not an app that serves its core function: auto-formatting for the screenwriter. If this app were simply missing advanced features or had a bug here and there it would be one thing but this is a major functionality issue. Is no one else experiencing this? I am surprised no one else has mentioned it save for one other person.
The rest of the app has some nice ideas going for it but it's not worth going into because of the formatting issues. I hope this company fixes this as this should be their programming priority. It's worth waiting for movie magic or final draft to release their apps or perhaps I will try celtx. I was impressed with the ease of the app until I actually started writing more than one line of text.
