Waste of Money
You only get 3 free planes and you have to buy the rest after already paying for the game. Additionally, there are only 7 episodes. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
Not worth it
Although as a fan of Ace Combat, this app was a disapointment. A price of $4.99 is pushing it for a quick 8 missions. Plus an addition of $.99 for extra planes is a rip-off. Personally, the controls were horrible, both analog and accelorometer were clunky. And without a rudder, its hard to attack ground units. If your going to buy a arcade dogfighting game, I recommend buying HAWX instead.
ACE Combat Xi Skies of Incursion
Graphics are great, and fairly true to the PS3 version of ACE Combat, and I found the physics/controls using my iPhone 3Gs ok (except I haven't found how to throttle down/air-break). My only complaint is having only 8 missions and 3 planes (I "earned" and extra plane somehow), and then having to buy other planes. The 3-4 that come with the game don't really fly all that differently, so there's no real need to choose your plane for the specific mission. However, my hope is, the developer will add more content -- and maybe more planes -- going forward... you know, free update material.
All-in-all, if you want a "flight simulator" to kill some time, this one is pretty good. It's a keeper for me, but if I knew all that it was before I purchased it (if I'd had a chance to play it for 45 minutes or so on someone else's iPhone) I probably wouldn't have bought it... at least not until there is more content.
