Description
SALE: This app is on sale for a limited time only - it is part of our iMuscle for iPhone promotion.
NOTE: This application covers the heart and the vascular system that supplies the body wall, exterior of the head and neck and the extremities. This application does not cover the vascular system that supplies the viscera (internal organs including brain).
OVERVIEW:
This is a must have app for anyone studying anatomy. It has been designed for students from basic to advanced level of anatomical medical knowledge as well as medical professionals. It is far more interactive than flash cards with several amazing features (see below) and has an interactive quiz section for testing your knowledge of the cardiovascular system.
FEATURES:
•No internet connection required.
•Ability to zoom in and identify any vessel.
•Detailed 360 degree views of the heart including a cross sectional view.
•Ability to rotate a body part for anterior, lateral, posterior and medial views, inferior and superior views are available where appropriate. X-ray and skin views are also available.
•Over 350 high-quality 3-Dimensional images of the cardiovascular system.
•Full anatomical descriptions of all 1,200 labelled parts.
•All vessels are labelled in both English and Latin.
•A dual index that can search in both English and Latin.
•Ability to test yourself with a fun Quiz function.
NEW FEATURE:
•Ability to change the image backgrounds from black to white and vice-versa.
HOW TO USE:
The user is presented with a high-quality 3D model/image of a skeletal body with cardiovascular system. The user can zoom in to any area - by taping on a region - taping again will zoom in further. The user can then identify the different vessels by pressing on the flags. Each label is in English and Latin. Pressing on the 'i' icon allows the user to access additional information on a label. There is also a super Magnification Mode that greatly magnifies a particular region allowing the user to press on flags that are close together!
INDEX:
The application can also be used as a visual reference tool by using the index: By simply selecting either the English or Latin name of a vessel from the index - the application will show the user where it is located - by zooming into the appropriate region and finding and labelling the vessel you requested.
VIEWS:
Throughout the app - even while zooming in - the user can get different views, including superficial or skin views and of course the anatomical views: anterior, lateral, posterior, medial and even inferior and superior where appropriate.
QUIZ:
This is a handy and fun testing tool - the user is asked which area they would like to be tested on - and then the application asks them to zoom in and identify a particular vessel. If after three attempts the user is unable to identify the vessel he/she can ask the app to guide them.

Not what I expected
It would have been a 4 star if it were not for the skeleton that you have to maneuver around. There should be a way to toggle off and hide the bones from the app. I do not like the quiz that you have in this app, the flags are difficult to click because they are so close to each other. I really liked the way you did the musculoskeletal anatomy quiz, you should do the same for the cardiovascular system. If you work on my suggestions this app will be 5 stars.
Some problems
1st need to be able to hide bone. 3d4medical is good for a intro anatomy class, either in college/ as a preview to medical school anatomy/ good for dental student as well (except for the head/neck region). If you say that it is good for medical school or good for surgeon you probably never been to medical school as there isn't nearly enough details.
Ok
App is ok: useful but the interface is clunky and hard to use (the flags are way too small for use on the iPhone making it difficult to tap the right one). Quizzes are also lame and clunky. This speaks to the backward nature of the app itself which seems to rely on just presenting the material as simply 2d images much like a traditional anatomy atlas rather than as an interactive model. As such it is poorly suited to the iPhone's tiny screen. It's also surprisingly slow and unresponsive at times. Quizzes especially are lame, slow and annoying. Would stick to an iPad version or reg atlas until interface and capabilities are more optimized.
