Description
Be square, don't do lines!
Bloxomo² ("Bloxomo Squared") is a unique twist in the falling blocks genre. Instead of falling down a well, the shapes fall towards the center of a square grid. Completed squares around the center block are removed and the rest of the blocks move inward.
• Can you solve the challenge levels?
• Can you withstand the speed levels?
• Can you handle two shapes at once? How about three? Even four?
• Can you handle an occasional pentomino?
Bloxomo² offers two modes of play. In continuous mode the difficulty ramps up each time you complete five squares. Higher levels challenge you with pentominoes, two (or more!) shapes at once, and of course frightful speed.
In classic mode, each of the 30 levels has a goal of 3 or more squares to complete. When you complete a level you are awarded a bonus based on how much of the grid is clear. Then the grid is cleared for the start of the next level. As the levels progress, classic mode offers the same pressures of continuous mode. In addition, classic mode contains speed levels that must be completed quickly as the squares expand, and challenge levels that award a special bonus for a completely cleared grid.
High scores are kept for both modes and also for each level of classic mode.
Control is possible with the directional pad at the bottom of the screen and with an intuitive combination of taps and swipes.

Satisfying game with a retro look
Most of my iphone games, I pick up, play for 2 minutes or less, die, and try again. With this game I'm often playing one round for 20+ minutes and am totally oblivious to everything else around me. I've always loved tetris-like games but this one really challenges my mental rotation ability, in a good way. It feels less mindless than the mono-directional games of its type. Though the graphics are unremarkable by today's standards, I get the idea this is intentional and that it's mimicking an old Atari game. I prefer to play in the "classic" mode (no patterns on the pieces, just saturated colors - I think it helps my gameplay).
