LivingRoom for iPad gives you the tools to plan and design your space — from the floor plan to laying out furniture to choosing materials. Pick from a large library of objects to place in your rooms, keep notes for each project, even add custom textures from your photo library! LivingRoom for iPad lets you see, touch, and share your design ideas.

Easy to use:

• Saves your place automatically
• Generous undo/redo
• Large built-in database of structural and design items -- furniture, appliances, lighting, bathroom & kitchen objects, and more!
• Easily move, resize, and rotate objects, add custom labels
• Add colors and textures to anything in your room
• Facebook and Twitter integration
• Email (PDF) or save to your photo library
• Keep all your projects together and browse them easily in the built-in rooms gallery
• Simple to add irregular room types; just combine and rotate wall sections, doors, and windows!

Easy to customize:

• Use your own fabrics and textures
• Keep notes for each project
• Set your units of measure
• Optionally hide all furniture and only show structural components.

What's New in Version 1.6

Thanks to our users for all the great feedback! If you're enjoying LivingRoom for iPad, be sure to leave us a rating or review on the store, even (and especially) if you've left one for an earlier version -- we love hearing from you guys!

● Multitasking! (iOS 4+)
● Printing (iOS 4.2+)
● New "Move Everything" mode available in the Actions menu.
● FIXED: Object sizes no longer include space for the object's shadow, so layouts are much more precise, particularly when laying out a room with large objects in it.
● Room title now included in shared PDFs, images, and printouts.
● Performance improvements for rooms with a lot of stuff in them.
● FIXED: Improved grid sizing display when using metric units (0.5 rather than 0.49 meters, etc.)
● Other bug fixes and performance optimizations.

NOTE FOR EXISTING USERS: Because of the changes and improvements to the way LivingRoom handles sizing, some objects in existing rooms may show slightly different dimensions in their detail views than the ones that you set. This was the only way to maintain the room layouts as they were designed (otherwise, things would have shifted around). Sorry about that, we kind of ate it on that one.

Helpful

I am currently doing a major renovation at my house, and this app has been helpful for visualizing wall placement, furniture size and placement, traffic patterns, etc. The shapes are pretty basic, and it is only a 2D view, but once you get the hang of it, you can move furniture around pretty easily. Once I had the room dimensions, I simply made copies and made the changes so that I could compare ideas. The notes section is very helpful.

The app is not as good for decorating. The ability to add color and textures is good, but the color selection itself is difficult. There is a color wheel and the ability to get a basic color like red or brown is challenging. So this tool doesn't work well for actually selecting real room colors. Also, while placing furniture is ok, rotating furniture is hard. I always have to use 2 hands and try to grab the handles to turn it to the angle I want.

So A for design work, C for decorating ability other than furniture placement.

Perfect for basic remodeling/redesigning plans

I'm using this app to help plan layouts and basic remodeling ideas for some rooms in the house and it has provided everything I've needed so far.

One suggestion for improvement would be to make cycling through the furniture/walls/etc easier by adding a scroll bar below the items themselves; I've accidentally selected furniture pieces several times while trying to get to the piece that I want and it can become frustrating. Also, when re-sizing to smaller dimensions the furniture already added to the room can be difficult to drag back. Considering how useful this app has been, though, I don't feel the need to drop a star for these annoyances.

A 3D viewing mode would be nice in time, if possible.

Overall, I've found this well worth the (currently) $4.99.

Good basic space planner

The electronic equivalent of graph paper, a ruler, and pencils. The library of room features, furniture and room options is adequate and since all of the items can be edited you can create custom pieces that aren't in the library. This app could be awesome with a few upgrades like an expanded library of room features and furnishings, 3d view, and the ability to upload photos of an actual room and your own room elements to the library. If the developers could collaborate with furniture manufacturers (perhaps a popular swedish manufacturer) to add specific pieces to a design, that would be amazing. If your looking for an app that provides the highly detailed, 3D layouts that a professional designer would create, this is NOT it. But do you really think you could get that for 5 bucks? For the price this app gets the job done.
