Waiting for 2.0

Sophiestication makes some of the best looking iOS apps.

Articles for iPad is indeed beautiful, especially with retina treatment, but marred by few major issues.

One. The developer is promising a bigger update, but the iPad version is lagging behind iPhone in features by over a year (e.g., find on pages, read later). I realize the developer is one woman shop and working very hard, but find on pages is rather important.

Two. Performance. Although the app feels fast in many regard, it is also excruciatingly slow in some area. Most notably, tapping a toolbar icon to switch to another opened tab takes a full second.

Three. Lack of synchronization between iPhone and iPad versions. Please use iCloud to sync bookmarks and other data.

Handy app

I use this app on a daily basis (iPhone and iPad). Tried all sorts of Wikipedia interfaces and this is the one I come back to.

DO NOT UPDATE (if you are NOT running iOS 5.1)

Version 2.0 was teased back in February '11 as coming soon and yet still no mention to date. The UI is great but the "Open in New Page" option is no longer working properly in version 1.3.3 (English). As such I can't recommend Articles, nice looking or not, until updates are provided to fix this broken app.

EDIT: Over one year later and still no version 2.0 as promised—furthermore, DO NOT UPDATE THIS APP to version 1.5 if you're not running iOS 5.1. I am not running the latest version and thus am now locked out of using this app. As a courtesy, developers typically warn the user in the RELEASE NOTES if their app will completely ignore all prior versions of the operating system (as most people would not check the requirements portion of the sidebar if they already own the app).
