Description

Enjoy a complete issue of the acclaimed weekly on your iPad each Monday—every story, every cartoon, everything in the print edition and more. The app comes with a sample table of contents; you can buy single issues, or subscribe and receive new issues as they’re released. If you’re already a subscriber, download the app and tap on the "Current Magazine Subscriber" button to activate your digital subscription. (All subscribers can also access the web archive — every issue since 1925 — by logging into archives.newyorker.com.) The New Yorker offers a signature mix of reporting and commentary on politics, international affairs and the arts, along with fiction, poetry, humor, and cartoons. Founded in 1925, The New Yorker has received more National Magazine Awards than any other magazine. Notable work in recent years includes coverage of the war on terror by George Packer, Jane Mayer, Lawrence Wright, Steve Coll, and Seymour M. Hersh; reports from the front lines of the Middle East by Jon Lee Anderson, Dexter Filkins, and Wendell Steavenson; Malcolm Gladwell on “the tipping point”; Anthony Lane on movies; James Wood on books; Elizabeth Kolbert on the environment; Atul Gawande on health care; fiction by Jonathan Franzen, Edwidge Danticat, Zadie Smith, and Haruki Murakami; humor by David Sedaris and Andy Borowitz; and cartoons by Roz Chast.

More great reads: "Meals Worth the Trip" is the sixth in The New Yorker Reader series of anthologies of content culled from the magazine’s rich archive, and is now available to all digital subscribers on the iPad as part of their subscription, and to non-subscribers for $2.99. This collection features an introduction by Mark Singer, and great food writing by Calvin Trillin, Adam Gopnik, M. F. K. Fisher, and more.

The most annoying app

I cannot believe this. The app crashes as soon as it's launched. Fix it. I am canceling my subscription to this stupid magazine.

What's updated?

I'm constantly being told there's an update for some issue I have already downloaded, and if I try to look at that issue, the app wants to know if I want the update ... So I wait while it downloads another 100+ Mb, and then I have no idea what might have changed. If you're going to update past issues, please at least tell us what's different.

Ridiculous!

I have been struggling with this app for days . The New Yorker shows on the news stand but when I select it it keeps asking me if I want to subscribe. I have already registered but can still not download the magazine. I'm ready to cancel my subscription. I hate this!
