Description

★ Discover Montreal with a local ★

Montreal has got it all — food, fun, festivals and joie de vivre. If you’re a local, you know all about Montreal’s merits (even during winter!). If you’re visiting for the first time, you are in for an absolute bon voyage.

What’s inside the Montreal Essential Guide? Original content, hundreds of photos and up-to-date info on practically every museum and attraction in town; entries about Montreal’s best fests — comedy, jazz and fireworks included; and topical suggestions for families, the budget-conscience traveler, gay visitors, the great outdoors and a few Montreal metropolitan area road trips as well.

And then there’s the food. With more than 4,000 restaurants and eateries in town, it’s impossible to mention them all, but the Montreal Essential Guide is a good place to start and should leave any foodie satisfied. Budget lunches, tasty local treats of succulent smoked meat sandwiches and the infamous Montreal bagel, as well as casual French bistros and Montreal’s finest dining experiences all get a well-deserved gastronomic nod.

Bon appétit and bon voyage!

★ About the Author ★

Steve Howell first fell in love with Montreal in 1989 when he packed up his car on an impromptu road trip and headed north from Long Island. A poutine and a Jazz Fest later, and Steve was hooked. So much so that he moved there — or pretty close to it — about an hour away in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Steve has covered Montreal Arts & Entertainment for the Plattsburgh Press-Republican since 1995, and wrote freelance for the Montreal Gazette for four years — a really good writing gig considering he's a self-proclaimed museum junkie. Steve has penned six travel guide books — two about Montreal — and he also teaches Photojournalism and Travel Writing at Plattsburgh State University.

One of the best apps I've come across! I just wish there were more guides for other cities like this.
