Customer Reviews
Gorgeous, simple IM app
This is a fantastic app for instant messaging. Everything is gorgeous, and it works exactly like you would expect an iOS app to work.
In a future update, I'd love to see support for generic Jabber accounts. I also sort of wish that the left-hand navigation (buddy list) would stay visible even when the iPad is in portrait mode. I really don't need all that space just for the conversation, but this is a minor inconvenience.
Potential to be great
This is regarding google talk/chat.
This app could be 5 stars with 3 changes, two of which are SIMPLE to implement. Verbs is visually pleasing, effective, reconnects quickly, but is has the following flaws:
First, it has trouble staying connected in the background (yes, I have the pro update) and does not notify me when it loses connection. It should automatically reconnect when I open the app. Isn't it safe to assume that if I'm opening a messaging app, I want it to be connected?
Second, there should be a little dot in the conversation view (red, yellow, green, exactly like on the contacts list) that tells me whether or not the person I'm talking to has gone idle/away.
Finally, they need to implement the check mark system that tells me whether or not my message has actually hit google's servers. Too often I send a message in verbs that appears to have sent, but is never received by whoever I'm talking to and never shows up in my gchat history. This one makes the app useless to me, and is the reason I'm forced to turn to beejive.
Until these issues are resolved, I will continue to use beejive and direct new users to beejive. Currently much more stable. I'll bring you lots of business as soon as you give me a product I can confidently recommend.
Jabber
