Great if you just need to write
I used iA Writer on the iPad to write the text for my Ph.D. dissertation (with an external keyboard). The focus on making text entry distraction free was clearly evident to me. When I needed to write, I opened iA Writer and just wrote. I was surprised that the focus mode actually seemed to work for me - it's anecdotal, but when I used it it seemed that I was able to more effectively dump words out of my head without worrying about what I wrote before.
Syncing with Dropbox worked well (I haven't relied on iCloud yet, so I can't comment on it) and certainly made me feel more comfortable using the iPad to work on what for me was a critical document.
I was skeptical before I purchased the software, but it's utility made a believer out of me.
Using the iPad version prompted me to purchase the desktop version of iA Writer as well, which I use when I need to write in front of my computer.
Favorite Word Processor Ever!
To put it simply, it's a simple, functional, yet very intuitive word processor; there aren't many bells and whistles to this app, and I think that's why it's so much better than Pages or Word. Also, the seamless integration with Dropbox and iCloud is phenomenal, and can be very time saving. I'm a college student, and I know this is what I'll be doing all my writing on. I really like this app, well worth the dollar. Go get it!!

Few developers care as much about simplicity and perfection as these guys. Kudos from a happy customer and I'm looking forward to future major updates!
