As you add songs, iDJ analyzes their sonic-waveforms, calculates tempos, then automatically performs optimal transitions throughout the playlist. In the DJ world, it's called "beat-matching"; the art of sequencing multiple songs in succession at the same speed as if one continual song. There's even a Tempo Graph feature that warns you when transitions from one song to another might be challenging so you can decide if another track might work better. Frustrating
Some constructive feedback because I'd really like to see this app succeed.
1) Importing and processing songs takes way too long
2) If there's a way to export the mix you create, then I couldn't find it.
3) Timeline movement is the most frustrating I've seen. When I zoom in and make an adjustment, it immediately zooms back out. So, I have to zoom in again to make another adjustment resulting in a long cycle just to work to on one transition.
4) Timeline space is too small.
5) Dragging the start/end points is limited to fixed intervals or tick marks. There's a setting for disable auto-lock. What this setting does isn't clear but it doesn't impact this movement. Songs have Bpms but are made by human beings not machines. Need free movement.
6) If fading is possible I couldn't figure it out. Someone mentioned a way to do it, but if I couldn't figure it out easily then it's obviously an issue. Need to be able to easily fade in/out.
This app has potential but at this point it's just too frustrating to use to create custom mixes. If you're satisfied with the auto mix then you'll be happy. If you want to create your own mix and know what a good mix sounds like, then you'll want to snatch the app out of your iPad and throw it against the wall!
Doesn't use all music!!*!*!
I noticed that this app cannot import music that wasn't originally bought from iTunes
Super impressed
If you love more dance music with simple 4 on the floor beats, this app will make it soo easy to dj a party, set it and forget it, allows you to change how long the fades take, and even auto bpms, I was impressed watching this thing work.. if you wanna throw a party but don't wanna pay for a dj, spend $2 and some time with this app and you will be pleased!
