Aperture 3
This app is awesome, I love it! I've been shooting professionally for the last 27 years and Aperture 3 has exceeded all my expectations. It runs beautifully and smoothly at 4gb of RAM on my iMac. It doesn't freeze or hang up my system at all. No issues from a hardware perspective at all! By the way, don't buy into the idea that you're settling for less or that this is an "amateur" program. Quite the contrary! Aperture 3 is a solid professional application that is every bit as sophisticated and versatile as Lightroom. It offers image and project organization tools as well as powerful RAW/JPEG file editing features. In addition, Aperture 3 features the ability to create and order books, GPS tagging and video support. Lightroom is only now getting around to offering those same features with their current release at about twice the price. I recommend that you watch the video tutorials and/or get a good guide book, such as the Aperture 3 book in the Apple Pro Training Series. I've used it for weddings and landscape photography with phenomenal results. My editing and adjustment time has been vastly reduced. One thing on the negative side: it doesn't offer a layers feature (neither does Lightroom) so you'll still need Photoshop or Photoshop Elements for compositing work. When editing and adjusting my images I find that I now do most of my work (about 80% more or less) in Aperture 3 and I'm loving every minute of it. Aperture is a wonderful program for taking your digital photography to the next level. Don't waste another minute, I highly recommend that you get Aperture 3…..NOW!
it's wonderful
I love this program, it's a good choice for those who don't want to drop big dollars on Lightroom, but still want pleanty of options and tools to work with. I've had no problems running this and my computer's performance dosen't slow down at all (Using the base 2009 15" macbook pro). Overall i would highly recomend this program to all amature photographers
Something went right!
A lot of reviews staed how Aperture froze their computer and quit all the time, nothing worked.
JUST THE OPPOSITE! I have it on a Mac Mini that is several years old and it works perfectly fine, I also have it on my MacBook Pro from 1 year ago (i7) and it works just as well, both are running lion! Definitely worth the $80! (although photoshop options would be nice….overlays ect….)
Thanks Apple!
