"unDock Supercharges Your Mac's Disk-Ejecting Functionality" - Lifehacker

Time machine is wonderful, but it makes a mobile Mac user cry- waiting for a backup to finish or cancel before we rush to a meeting makes life difficult. unDock adds a simple but critical piece of functionality to your Mac- an "Eject All" shortcut with super powers.

When you're ready to go, use either the keyboard shortcut (default: Control-Option-Command-Space) or the menu bar icon to unDock. With unDock Lite, each time you use the hot key combination or menu trigger, the first removable disk will be ejected.

Upgrade to the full version of unDock to eject all of your removable drives at once, add support for network drives, and provide your own AppleScripts to run at unDock!

What’s New

Version 2.1

Several bug fixes, including the ability to unset the keyboard combination, properly ejecting CD/DVD drives, and more.

Works for what I wanted

I needed a shortcut to eject all USB devices at once, particularly since I have a four port USB hub and a Superdrive hooked into my Macbook Air. This program does exactly that, ejects everything at once. Sure does beat clicking "Eject" on upwards of 6 "devices". The only problem, which is why I docked one star, is that I have to click "UnDock Now!" or press the keyboard shortcut TWICE to eject all things… My external hard drive has a partition and any time I use the program to eject everything, it only ejects one of the partitions. Hopefully they will fix this in the future but pressing a keyboard shortcut or clicking "UnDock Now!" twice sure does beat "Eject" 6 times.

Does just what it says, simple and easy.

I use this app to undock from my Time Machine backup and it works great. Every once in a while I find myself needing to undock multiple connections (network, USB drive, etc.) which this app doesn’t do. If you need that capability you should get the full version of unDock, it disconnects multiple drives simultaniously. However, if you just need to disconnect a single drive, this app works perfectly.

Doesn’t really eject the drive

I just downloaded and tried this, and unfortunately I have to say it does not work. I have one USB volume that I have to eject almost daily, and it gets annoying going into a Finder window to do it. I downloaded this app and tried using it to eject the drive.

I clicked on the menubar icon and chose unDock Now! It pops up a notification saying it is working, then it pops up a message very briefly saying it can’t unmount the drive, and THEN it pops up another message saying it successfully ejected the drive. But the drive is still mounted!
