Description
Want to securely delete sensitive documents without emptying your entire Trash? Or need to quickly erase large files permanently from your Mac or any external devices such as a USB stick to free up space? FileShredder provides a simple solution for deleting anything right away from your computer.
★ Right-click (secondary click) on any file or folder and select "Shred" or "Secure Shred" to delete the item(s) immediately. No app launching is required! (Start the app at least once to enable.)
★ Or, drag-and-drop files to the application icon on the dock. Configure in Preferences whether to delete securely or not.
★ A counter on the dock icon indicates the number of items remaining for deletion; a sound can optionally be played when done.
★ Choose in Preferences one of three algorithms for secure deletion: 1 pass (fastest), 7 DoD-compliant passes, or 35 pass Gutmann deletion (safest).
★ Press ⌘Q to abort further deletion.
Note: Please do not use the drag-and-drop method for deleting aliases and symbolic links. The operating system will instruct the app to delete the original files rather than the aliases or links.

- A few bug fixes including an error when deleting more than several thousand items at a time.

Very quick and very fast secure erase.
This is just what I had been looking for. You can drag FileShredder into your Finder toolbar and have it there for any Finder window. It's really really fast. I've used some other secure erase utilities and this is by far and away the fastest. I thought I would have to leave it on the 1-pass setting, but even the more secure 3-pass was shockingly fast (1-2 seconds for 1-5 MB files). Definitely worth the money I paid.
Nice shredder
Will be cooler if animation on dock shows a file being shredded instead of a waiting bar.
