Cabela’s Recon Hunt is the first mobile navigation app built solely for hunters. With Recon Hunt, you can find hunting spots on detailed maps, track wildlife, take trophy photos and backtrack home. Recon Hunt also tracks other essentials as well: weather forecasts, sun and moon phases, trip stats and ballistics info. Our power saver technology monitors how you use the app in order to preserve battery power. Plus, Recon Hunt works in remote places without the need of data and cellular signals.

GO ANYWHERE
• Recon Hunt uses the GPS built into your iPhone to track your location with GPS satellites. No data or phone signal is needed to see your current location or to mark points.
• View unlimited topographic maps in the United States and Canada. Topo maps are 1:24K scale in the Lower 48, 1:63K in Alaska, and 1:50K in Canada.
• Consult street and terrain maps, and satellite photos.
• Store up to 500MB of map quads on your iPhone.
• Go to the Map Cache feature to save map packages on your phone for viewing maps in remote areas.

STAY FOUND
• Follow your track on seamless maps. Know where you are at all times.
• Navigate with the digital compass. Choose between: Magnetic North and True North. (Note: Magnetic Compass only works on iPhone 3GS and 4)
• Use the Goto feature to navigate from your current location to a saved or manually entered coordinate.

Just learning how to use.
Still learning functions of app as hunting season just started. Good so far like the pics tagged to map. Map is locking up and uses all of battery. Shot a deer today and was looking forward to the blood trail function. First the active trip froze the screen then after restarting, barely got the shot & stand location entered when the phone powered down out of battery from 87% when I left the truck 2 hrs before. I'm wishing firmware updates will fix these bugs. Also no .22 lr caliber in ballistic data.
Worth it... So far
I have yet to test the abilities of this app in the field, but the features it includes would seem to be almost everything the avid (albeit technologically advanced) outdoorsman needs for the hunt. The maps are great, I can zoom in even closer than I can in google maps, but a few features could be further developed. The weather could include a bit more data such as hourly patterns instead of just daily, but as a whole, well worth the money. -Will
Great but slow
This is a great app but it is slow when it comes to map catching. Freezes up and won't complete the map of the unit I am hunting. Active trip map is slow also. Needs improvement.
