Same old crappy interface

Works well enough, and is certainly faster than the older versions and has 64-bit support. Unfortunately they didn't bother to redesign the interface like with FCP and Motion, and it was a huge disappointment to open this and find the same terrible old interface that reeks of 1999. It looks shamefully bad next to FCP and Motion.

garbage

rendering a 8 min clip in h.264 takes 36hrs? the same file exporting using fcpx to h.264 to took 22 mins. i called customer support and they said nothing was wrong. and that compressor takes longer because it goes thru more steps.

Bought it for Workflow

There's really not much different here. Qmaster is integrated into the menu, but really I can't find too much else different. 64-bit support of course. I basically bought it so I could export directly to it from FCP X. In FCS, the direct export to Compressor would take FOREVER to do the final encode. The work-around was to command-E out of FCP, then import into Compressor. In this version, the direct export works like it is supposed to. So I suppose that makes it worth it.

Edit for 4.0.3: No issues to report with this update. I'd like to add to my original review that I took away a star because some of the more specific pre-made encoding options were taken away and I didn't quite want to use the new ones. (I'm thinking the Video Sharing for Web encoding options in particular here.) Not a big deal, but I just had to create my own to match what I used to have. Just be aware if you upgrade, not all the encoding options will still be there.

Hey-o! Just found publish to Vimeo is a feature of 4.0. Yah, this upgrade is worth it now.
