Locations 3

Description
Imagine coming home from work, opening up your laptop, and having it all just work.
You don't have to switch your SMTP servers to the one your ISP insists you use. Your home server mounts automatically. Your iChat status tells the world 'At Home' and all your favorite webpages spring open. Excel closes, iTunes launches. The volume cranks up.
That's what Locations does.
Just in case you want to do something that's not included, you can also run applescripts, automator workflows, and terminal commands.
New in Locations 3, you can:
- Change your default mail application
- Change your default web browser
- Hide an application
- Enable or disable your firewall
- Turn Time Machine on and off
Locations can change your:
- Adium status
- Apple Mail fetch rate
- Apple Mail SMTP servers
- Desktop image
- Network location
- Printer
- Screensaver
- System volume
- iChat status
- Screen brightness
- Timezone
Locations can also:

- Open a URL
- Play an iTunes playlist

Customer Reviews
Doesn't work!
I need to get a refund. This application just locks up on my macbook pro! I wasted 20 bucks on this!
great idea, doesn't work
I'm ok with the features and interface. It is pretty nice actually. My problem is that it doesn't actually seem to work on my MacBook Pro! To be fair, I am waiting for a response from the author and if he can help me get it working I will certainly provide an updated review. But this is a pricey app and I expected it to work.
* Update 2 *
Still trying to get this app to work. Often when I Enable locations the daemon just locks up (beach ball). Very disappointing and no response yet from developer.
* Update 1 *
- Even though the app isn't working at all for me, I thought I'd try the interface. I like the ability to define a trigger based on geographic proximity. It would be nicer if you could type an address but that can be worked around (you can use Google to get a lat/long from an address and paste that in the dialog).
- I could not figure out how to mount a network volume. Of course I might have been doing it right and not know it since the app isnt' working for me.
- back to waiting for a response. I'd really like to see this work!
Not bad
Locations isn't bad for the money. It's cheaper than another app I tried, and the interface is simple and clean. I'd give it 4 stars if I could figure out how the automount works. It's supposed to connect you to server shares but no syntax i use seems to work...
