Digital characters are good but don't try the appmates sold at stores
My son loves this game, he has every digital car. Went recently to store and bought the mater/Finn combo back and they don't really work on top of screen he likes the digital cars much better once moved from the spot your in the games loses its place and u have to restart to get it back
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY THE APPMATES CARS
Good idea
Love this idea but the cars we purchased don't read very well. At first I thought it was just too advanced for my son, then I tried to play and it kept losing its read on the car and I was pushing hard. We have lighting, mater, Finn, and holly.
Some kinks
When our car didn't work, as many others noted, I called the manufacturer. They were VERY helpful and took my concerns seriously. First of all, if you have a smart cover on the IPad, it needs to be removed. The magnet in the cover interferes with the car magnet. As soon as I removed the cover, I rebooted and the car worked right away. My advice is to make sure you have a protective film on the iPad!!!!
I suggested to the company that the cars need to be redesigned to not rely on actual placement of fingers on car windows. This is impossible due to the nature of "driving" in all directions. Once you readjust your hand, the connection gets lost. I found a trick to this problem, click the map at the right, pick a place To go, and exit map, car should start working again. I'm hoping they work on correcting it, because this has so much potential to be great.
CALL the 1-800 number and tell them your concerns over the toy, I'm holding out until there's a new upgraded car version, before buying more characters.
Some minor frustrations, but it's cute enough to work through it for now.Overall, my son LOVES this app (as do I)
