Almost perfect
The app is great and managing podcasts without the need to sync with iTunes is wonderful. There are some UI oversights that keep me from rating it higher. There is no sort control over subscribed podcasts, it just keeps them in the order added. Playing a podcast from a feed feels like there are some extra steps that can be removed and buttons made bigger. Right now the UI is not very car friendly.
Finally.
I love it that in 2012, somewhere in the world there's a random dude who set out to create the perfect podcast playing app for the iPhone and that because of the structure of this crazy new economy, he can make a good living selling it for $2. I mean... I'll just echo what the other folks are saying -- maybe there are tweaks that could be done here or there, but instacast lets you finally cut the cord. It's not fancy... not flashy. It just works like you'd expect. That's pretty cool.
Keeps getting better
Vemedio is doing a great job of maintaining & improving Instacast. I recovered ~ 6GB from my iphone by clearing iTunes sync'ed podcasts, and just getting the episodes I want when I want to listen. It plays at 2x, and seems to load the buffer up so streaming always sounds great!
