I've just replaced the main browser from safari to this one !!
It needs more polishing.
Pros: I love the speed-dial. It's exactly what I've been looking for in a browser for my iPod Touch. I also like how there are 'tabs', and that you can quickly switch between tabs that are conveniently placed at the bottom of the screen. I like the clean and simple interface, and how simple it is to begin browsing instead of fumbling through different options just to start typing in the web address.
Cons: It lags. I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this. I haven't experienced any lags using Aquari and Safari. It lags when you start looking through a page while it's still loading - or even when it's done loading. It lags when you switch between tabs (it takes a good 1.3 seconds to switch), and it lags when you're scrolling a zoomed-in page. Also, clicking links should be pressure-sensitive. If I want to click on a link, give me at least an entire second to 'click+hold_then_release' on the link before you let the browser think that I clicked it. It can sometimes get frustrating, because when I'm browsing a page that's got a lot of links in it (IMDb.com, for example. Not the IMDb app - I'm talking about the regular IMDb website. The app has no login and forum feature yet), if I scrolled up and down by swiping my finger, and if my finger happened to start swiping on a link, more often than not the browser would think that I clicked on that particular link -- and so it loads up the page where that link leads to.
Possible bug: The scroll bar doesn't stay where they're supposed to stay. Sometimes the scroll bar on the side would be about 100 pixels towards the center of the screen, instead of staying on the far right. The bottom scroll bar I didn't really pay attention to. But please do check on them.
Features: Add the ability to make bookmark folders. I have lots of sites that I want to bookmark, and they belong in different categories. I want my bookmarks organized. Also, if possible, add the ability to drag the speed-dial boxes so we can reorganize them. I don't want to delete a speed-dial box, replace it with another address, then click on another blank speed-dial box to retype the address of the speed-dial box that I've just deleted. It's tedious. How about adding the option to hold+drag-and-rearrange them, like the icons on my iPod Touch? I know the 'hold a speed-dial box' script is already occupied by the 'delete this quick link' action, but you can easily remedy that by adding an "Edit" button at the bottom right area of the quick links/speed-dial boxes. And if we click on that Edit button, red-negative signs would appear on the upper-left corner of each box - and we can just tap on them if we want to delete them.
Honestly, I really prefer the UI in iSurf over both Aquari and Safari. But I want it improved, that's why I took the time to write all of this. Finally, can you change the sound effects for opening/closing the "more options" drawer? It sounds too sci-fi. It should be neutral, don't you think? Change it to a simple 'swish-swosh' sounds.
Speedy browser on iTouch
Not a lot of review about this product so I checked about idroid (same developer) and gave this one a try. It works well, does not crash (yet) is easy to make bookmarks. I did not see any way to have bookmark folders. Swiping with 2 fingers to go forward or backward indeed works as does flipping sideways for full screen.
