Great App and Customer Service
I downloaded this app after some research and playing with other free apps. I had one issue with the app not connecting and after some emails they were able to help me fix the problem. it was my computer not the app.
Over all this is a great tool for emailing documents from my home pc to work and being able to type word documents on the ipad and email them to my self when i am away from a computer. This was well worth the money.
Works great--terrific "sofa controls"!
This app has been 100% reliable for me on both iPhone and iPad. I love the ability to pinch zoom the Mac's OWN display, not just the one on the phone. Great for couch use: zoom in on the menus on the Mac's screen, without even having to look down at your phone (to do this, simply turn off iTeleport's video display, making your iPhone/iPad into a fancy trackpad). iTeleport is the ultimate mini mouse/keyboard for controlling a Mac on the same local network.
I haven't used it with Windows but it's been great with Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. Works over 3G too if you know your IP--but that's mainly useful for emergency access to your Mac. Local WiFi is much preferred for speed's sake.
An amazing and full-featured app. I love the 3-finger gestures to show/hide the controls so you can view just the computer screen and nothing else, but still pull up a keyboard when needed.
I'm sure some low ratings come from the fact that screen sharing can be difficult to set up on some computers or some routers, and this app can't fully change that. But once your computer is set up properly, this app is awesome!
I didn't even bother with the auto-setup stuff from Jaadu, I just turned on Screen Sharing for my Mac (be sure to check Computer Options next) and opened port 5900 on my DSL modem/router. (Reviewers complaining that the app requires a Google account are mistaken! I've never used the Google feature. Google may be easier than manual connection, but it's optional.)
Now, this is a VNC app, and the VNC standard (including Mac Screen Sharing) had its limits: no audio, and slow speeds when you're doing things remotely. Bear these limitations in mind; I've tried non-VNC solutions that were faster and had audio, but they're less full-featured and required me to install extra software on my computer. It's a trade-off. And even those options could not stream full-screen games/video without stuttering.
Disappointed
I installed bought the app, downloaded/installed it, and the first thing it wanted was my Gmail account and password. You're kidding right? I guess I didn't read the fine print. What a waste of $25.
