Charlie Sheen Needs This at His Ranch
This app is worth far more than it costs. Consider the things people tend to do to distract themselves when reality is a little too real or out of plain boredom: Eating (probably most common because everyone has eaten when they were not hungry for one reason or another), alcohol, drugs ... You get the idea. This app truly is a wonderful substitute for anyone who wants a "healthier" distraction. There are several ambient soundtracks to choose from that are amazing (the rain shower is the best rain soundtrack I've found and I have every ambient app available), and the assortment of objects that can be put in the "garden" must number 100. There's more than most people would ever use (though the tendency is easily to want to use them all) and they are beautifully detailed right down to the selection of butterflies (some that will remain perched on the object of your choosing; others that will freely fly and flit around). You can create multiple gardens, as well. I've found it lovely to keep it up on my iPad on my desk for the ambient sound to drown out background noise and improve concentration, the visual aesthetic, and having it readily available when I need a mental break or, as a writer, come face-to-face with writer's block.
I am always looking for apps that, among other things, provide small, helpful doses of distraction to keep creative juices flowing. This has rendered all the other so-so apps obsolete. I highly recommend it for creatives and everyone else.

Relaxing for all ages
I got this to relax after work, then I found my 6 year old likes it too! Very relaxing to rake the sand (you can change the depth), and lots of objects to add to your Zen garden!
Meditative and fun
A peaceful and meditative practice to de-stress during the work day, this app is one of my favorites. Playing in the sand is fun for my nephew, too.
