Pixelmator Tutorial Series

So, I'm about 20 titles into this series and believe I have a good feel for its strengths and weaknesses. Starting out with the introduction title, I thought I was going to pull my hair out sitting through the whole series, becuase the host is quite monotone and gives long pauses between his sentences, as if reading from a script to children. This gradually gets better, partly because we are dealing with more significant information and it does help to have a second to soak in each concept before going on to the next. The information presented appears well thought through, clear and concise. However, there is quite a bit of time spent showing each tool and setting in the app without any practical examples of why said tools and settings would be used. Occaisionally (during the Clone Stamp tool for instance), the tool is explained along with a demonstration of a very useful image editing technique. While the point of the series is to teach Pixelmator, not general photo editing, it does make the content a lot more engaging when it is balanced with practical techniques for real world tasks. Other than that, it is really good. A warmer, more candid approach and more practical demonstrations would make this perfect.

Pixelmator Classic - course was a free upgrade!

I found Pixelmator (now called Classic) very easy to learn to use. The short video format of Learn Pixelmator 3.5 makes it easy to find what you need, and learn it quickly.
The 3.5 version was a free upgrade - years after I purchased the original - I didn’t expect that, and would happily have paid the $5.99 for a new version.
Due to other software constraints (I’m a novelist), I can’t upgrade my Mac OS enough right now to purchase Pixelmator Pro - but I don’t really need it to make covers for my novels.
The course is about learning Pixelmator, not graphic design. It is perfect for that. I don’t need Photoshop. I don’t need more fancy features than I can use - that’s for the pros.
Pixelmator itself has more features than I need - I have used maybe 80-90% of what it offers (and is in this video course) when creating my first cover - and only wished ONCE I had one other tiny effect that PS has.
I find the narrator professional and competent and efficient. Just the facts, please.
The course has a place to store your own notes - also useful.
To see what I produced after using this course, check under my full name. The first novel was based on the versions available in 2015; the second will use the 2022 apps.

Exactly what I was looking for :)

I have edited phots using basic photo editing tools over the years. Now I want to step up and start creating some more dramtic edits for published materials as well as draw some unique designs. The number of options in an editing tool such as Pixelmator is daunting to a newbie like me. This video series is easy to watch and covers an amazing amount of material. A week of watching a few videos each evening and I am ready to start! The video table of contents makes it super-easy to go back and watch a 3-4 minute refresher for specific tools I am using. Perfect, Thanks!
