Love it
This app is amazing! I love that I can replay my audio and have the notes follow along to the audio. Prior to my iPad I used a tablet PC with OneNote and the live note feature was my favorite in OneNote. This app brings my favorite feature to my iPad. (Note: I have not tested this app in a classroom environment yet. After this first week of classes, I will rewrite my review if necessary.)
It is still missing a few things though. I would like to be able to zoom into my text (Like in Noterize) so I can write more precisely. I would also like to be able to select hand written text (or hand drawn images) and move them around or resize them.
But again, love this app. It is nearly perfect!
Unable to record
Recently an update was pushed; however since the product is called Live Note you would assume that the feature of recording would have been tested. This is not the case, and I now have to use something else. I am now using MobileNoter and since attempting to create a trouble ticket my emails have not been returned nor answered on their website. Very disappointed indeed. These are the reasons why iAnythings are stil considered toys and not reliable tools for the agile business person.
Update solved crashing issue
Update 3/19/11: it's been several months and no updates at all. The developers wrote me an email months both and said that "we are adding new and very interesting features.". Since then, their "features" included adding a remove page button, a delete page button, and a bug fix which I personally reported. I had to look for the right email address by not only going to their website, but also going through their Facebook page and emailing multiple people within the company just to get a response.
Update 11/28/10: devs finally responded and the crash issue is fixed now, thank god. Still waiting for a zoom in functionality and other minors features. Just know that for now, the text is not searchable once exported to PDF files. Overall, I would have to say that I'm very satisfied with the current version, and looking forward for the implementation of the zoom in functionality.
P.S. And background recording.
Review for version 1.1: Crashes during class when audio is being recorded. When i come back go the app, the written notes are saved but the whole audio session is lost. Also, there is no zoom in function. When playing back the audio recordings, if you turn the screen off to save battery life, the audio shuts off also. Just some minor things needs fixing and then this can really become an awesome app. I have sent at least 5 emails to the developers over the past month but they have not responded. I use SoundNote in class now - it is simple but at least it does not crash and wipe away my note/recordings.
Obviously the develepers didnt use the audio recordings in their meetings. Apps that crash should be pulled away from the app store.
