Beautiful but...
I want to love this app, and I almost do. It is quite lovely to look at and has a good ui, but the forecast high temperature for the day always seems to be too high. For instance, the app tells me tomorrow is going to be 72F, but I just looked at what NOAA.gov forecast and it says 66F (which is also what the local news says)
It makes it hard to trust the weather forecast at all when there is that big a separation between what the app tells me and what is reality.
I got this for the weather and it just isn't accurate. Otherwise, it is a great app...though, I wish that I knew where they are getting their weather information for the US so I can be sure to avoid whoever it is at all costs. If you aren't getting this for the forecast it's a beautiful app, but if the temperature forecast is your primary reason for buying this you might want something else.
Amazed at how many people easily give this app 5-stars.
Very nice if you're really interested in just eye candy in HD. The app is ok. I gave it three stars for that and the basic weather info (local/world time, date, location, current weather status, hi/lo temp sunrise/sunset & day/night, alarm) it provides. Is it really worth $1.99? I still don't think so. Here's why: 1. Another fancy clock (with alarm) with a weather app when main effort should be weather info/data. 2. No icon badge which means you have to open the app to see what the temp is. 3. No rain guages like many other apps--which are cheaper. 4. Weather updates seem to be slow and inaccurate compared to sites like NOAA. If you look at the description of this app--it's focus seems to be more to impress people with its beautiful (rotating) HD globe. Over 80% of the reviews focus only on how beautiful it is and not how useful it is. Very little discusion on any of the other features that are supposed to clearly indicate that this is a weather app. If all you care is impressing your friends with eye candy--this is the app for you. Wish I could get a refund.
Neat. Not google Earth.
Clouds update every three hours. Turn off phone's auto lock (the never setting) to keep this app as your "wallpaper". But Live Weather app may be better for that in some cases to show current sky in your chosen location.
This app is great to give your office a cosmopolitan look. Just hook phone to TV via cable available on Apple to display much bigger turning globe that changes to reflect sky conditions. Be sure the cable you get is connected to the charger appropriate to the generation of phone or tablet you are using. The cable I mean has three ends--one goes to iPhone or iPad, one goes to TV (actually to three plugs for TV if you use RCA type jacks) and one to charger so your device doesn't run out of power.
In answer to previous review posted here, app power demands are unlikely to drain the battery of an iPad if the iPad is plugged into the proper charger. Don't forget the charger for an iPad one won't keep up with power demands of iPad two and iPad two charger won't meet power demands of iPad generation three. You have to buy a more powerful charger for the generation three.
