Long Time User
When I first used MacGourmet it was great and updates were being made often. I've purchased the different versions over the years. It is still a great place to keep my many recipes. The import from the website has not worked in a while, but that was okay as I used sparingly. The big issue has been I can no longer sync between my devices (IOS) and was told, over a year ago, they were working on the problem. My fear is they are no longer supporting the software and one day I will lose everything last update 4 years ago). Unfortunately, there are no other applications that I have found that meet my needs.
Long time user, still 'kind of' happy
I'm another person who has used this software for many years and have purchased several different versions over that time. I'm also someone who tried switching over to Paprika (like many other users) but I just didn't like the interface...it's like a slightly dumbed down version of MacGourmet...so I abandoned it pretty quick and went back to MacGourmet. But I can't say that I'm real happy with Mariner Software either. You can not do wireless syncing of recipes...it just doesn't work. If you want that from your recipe software you'll have to look elsewhere. They say they are working on a fix but I no longer believe that. It's been months and months and there is no way it could take that long (why don't they just use iCloud drive?) There is still a way to transfer your recipe database from the mac to a phone or iPad manually though (it involves plugging in your device, renaming a file and then copying it over). So...once I found out you could do that I felt better. I've also never used the "import from web" stuff as I've always preferred to enter recipes on my own...so I don't really care about that function. Ultimately, the fact that they still tell people they are going to fix syncing and advertise on their website like it's just some temporary problem seems scuzzy to me. Fix the problem or don't fix the problem. But don't act like you're doing something when you're obviously not.
I love the program..when it works.
I've had various versions over the years. Over the last couple of years, the program both on iOS and the desktop have been glitchy. Sync doesnt work, you have to turn the iPad to portrait view to open the app, my login doesn't work. Since last Summer, the service has been nearly nonexistent. I REALLY hope they get their testing done soon...it's been months and that's the only answer we seem to get, "we're testing". Maybe you need new coders and testers??
