Description

Make a Face® is FREE until its next App Store update.

Make a Face® is photography animation software to create unique composite pictures of faces. The process by which Make a Face operates is an entirely novel approach to the display of human facial characteristics in juxtaposition for the purposes of elucidation, entertainment, and the study of physiological differences and similarities.

If you like taking pictures of yourself (on a good day), and if you like creating interesting photos and animations of the faces of your friends and family, then Make a Face® gives you a way to create photos taken from a unique and interesting array of perspectives, from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Make a Face divides photographs of human faces into quadrants whose common point is the center tip of the nose. These quadrants are then merged into an animated display that creates a smoothly aligned video of the combined, but individually recognizable, facial images from multiple facial graphic sources.

Make a Face is also a great social networking platform used by friends, family, and people everywhere who enjoy looking at facial pictures of themselves and others joined into an infinite number of interesting and animated combinations. Any picture of any face, including historical figures and well known personalities, can be integrated into the Make a Face display sequences. For people who enjoy looking at people, Make a Face gives them a way to see themselves in ways they have never seen themselves.

Make a Face® also calculates the degree to which the facial proportion ratios of any face approach the ratios of people who are commonly regarded as reflecting classic beauty. This feature is also offered in a separate OS X app: Rating Faces.

Make a Face will combine, rearrange, and animate the components of any image.

Make a Face® is also available in versions for the iPhone and iPad on the iOS App Store.

Make a Face can also distort, divide, subdivide, blend, rearrange and do over 100 strange and artistic things to the faces of the people you care about, and the faces of people for whom you may have less sympathetic feelings. Features are included to divide facial graphics, or any other graphic, into grids with up to 64 sections, and the sections of those grids can then be compacted, dispersed, blended, swirled, crunched, assembled, looped, shuffled, and wander off into interesting displays of the faces or other graphics you enjoy looking at.

You can, of course, also create all sorts of weird, peculiar, funny, and dysmorphic effects by double clicking in lopsided places on your imported graphic. A few experiments will give you the idea.

Clicking the "Make a Face" button will start an automatic, random selection sequence of mingled faces. A click will stop it. Clicking the popup menus at the corners will allow you to choose which specific face quadrants you want to display.

There are buttons on the storage page that will disassemble and/or reassemble the components of the graphics you have stored into amusing animation sequences.

Very clever app

I've had this app for about a month now, and we all (wife, daughters, and son) get more interested
in what it does and the way it works as the weeks go by. We have gotten very good at taking the right
type of pictures and cropping them so that when they are imported to Make a Face they produce
really interesting, precise results. We naturally started with pictures of family members, but now anything goes,
from celebrities to historical figures, cartoon faces, and all the combinations in between. It's fun, it's cool, and
it gets addictive. I never before paid so much attention to the similiarities and differences between
the way people's faces are built. Our eldest daughter has the face of every one of her good friends loaded
into the program and they watch their faces getting mixed together on our flat screen TV, alternatively
laughing at themseleves and then mesmerized by whose faces fit together and whose do not.
My one request would be to increase the memory of the program so we could load more pictures
into it. Once more than 10 faces are loaded in, the app slows down a bit. Our favorite feature
is the mini-group and the scatter feature, but the whole program is very, very clever.

wonderful little gem of an app

ok, I guess everyone likes looking at themselves, so it's no surprise that make a face is fun to use.
where it gets really interesting is when you start adding in family members.. then friends... then
random people with interesting faces... even the occasional non human - just kidding. but it does
produce some pretty amazing results. the support website is very helpful with advice, because it is
important to take photos from the right angle, and the website gives very good examples of how you
need to do it. what I really like is how the program is able to line up pictures of people of different
ages (different size heads and hairstyles) so exactly. the face picture sections get adjusted to the right
scale automatically. I used a picture of my grandmother when she was my age now, then a picture of me when
I was young, then one of my mother now, then one of me now...wow..I watched it over and over again.. the
same, exactly the same eye shapes staring back at me. eerie experience.... neat.

EXCELLENT, incredibly original

This app does so many interesting things to the photographs that you import into it....
it's amazing....faces, animals, any kind of picture, you name it. it produces the most
original collection of different combinations...truly unique images are created.
it blows instagram and apps like it away. the iphone/ipad version just does the
basic stuff, but this osx app does everything you can think of doing to a picture
of someone's face, and even turns it into a video you can save or saves it as a picture,
the whole deal. excellent! -----I like the updates for this version, especially the
quotes by famous, and some not so famous, people.
