Description
NOTE: To be useful, this application requires that you also install the free Nexus Connect on your PC. You can download that component from our web site.
Nexus securely extends your document library to your iPad, providing an always up-to-date view of your files without the need to copy files between the cloud and your iPad. Nexus features a graphical, intuitive view, providing a snapshot of the actual document pages as you browse through directories. It also allows you to pull up a filmstrip of the pages of any file, so you can quickly determine the relevance of a document before you open it in presentation mode. Optimized for the mobile screen, pages are shown with perfection, allowing you to zoom in to see the smallest details. Nexus supports viewing of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) documents as well as PDF files.
The Nexus app works with a Nexus server to establish a secure connection to your files, both when you're connected to the same network and when you're roaming. The Nexus Server streams documents page by page, eliminating the long download time that comes with large files. Instead, you quickly see the first page, allowing you to start working while the rest of the file arrives. Additionally, you can mark a file for offline use, and the entire file will be encrypted on your iPad, making it accessible even when you don't have a network connection.
Nexus servers can read files from a variety of sources, including a path on your local hard disk, a Windows File Share (CIFS), and Microsoft SharePoint. In each case, it provides secure authentication using your credentials, so you don't have to remember a different username and password. It's modular architecture supports a variety of repositories and new ones are added regularly. You can see up-to-date information about the formats supported at our web site.
What's New in Version 2.2.2
This release adds even more polishing for the new Retina display. You can almost feel the icons. Amazingly, while adding these high-resolution graphics, our talented team also managed to reduce the size of the app download by 33%!
Annotations have been greatly improved. We've added the ability to show and hide annotations, along with a tool that allows you to delete all of the notes on a page at once. Annotating zoomed documents is now a much smoother experience.
Gestures have been tweaked a little, and you'll find that it's easier to slide through the page index. Oh, and you can now open the file detail view with a long press. This is in addition to the two finger tap, so don't worry if that habit is already ingrained in your workflow.
If all of that didn't convince you to upgrade, this release also fixes a variety of minor bugs. Most notably, we've fixed:
* A crash-on-launch for iOS 4.x devices, for those who have been reluctant to move to iOS 5.
* An intermittent crash when you double tap on a file. Feel free to tap with abandon.
We recommend that all users upgrade to this version.
