Potential, yes. Too many issues though
What is essentially another beta release. I have no doubt this game will redeem itself through it's dedicated dev, eventually. As of now, however, there are serious issues with core gameplay elements and difficulty imbalance.
On the second mission, you must acquire 10 of the same item through random loot drops. This is a task that can take forever to accomplish.
Monsters on the first dungeon drop 1 coin when you kill them. A 1-coin loot drop is completely useless.
I cannot afford healing potions, because they are priced way beyond the means of a beginning character.
I have died 7 or 8 times trying to collect 10 of the same item in this 1st dungeon. I have no potions.
Monsters seem to attack in a pattern that makes even having a shield pointless. You can use your shield to block once, but then there is a delay before you can use it again. Monsters tend to attack twice in a row though. You cannot block the second strike.
Of course the controls could be more response and the interface less clunky. And the use of 12 armor pieces is unneccessary.
Potential
This game has a lot of potential, but as it stands I personally don't think it is ready for public release. The inventory interface is buggy and difficult to use.
Game balance needs to be addressed, drops are of too little value to afford upgrading and buying potions, forcing in-app purchases, making this app overpriced since normal advancement seems to require addtional purchases. I suspect others have figured this out by now. With the current balance This should have been a free game, because without in-app purchases the difficulty will put off even hardcore gamers causing them to stop playing.
The graphics are alright, if not unremarkable, not nearly as good as the developer has advertised. I cannot visually identify what is what by the inventory icons. Navigating the inventory is both frustrating and potentially hazardous with trash and disassemble and no cancel button, forcing the need to tap tab buttons below. It's a complete cluster....
The shield is useless, you're better off hitting then backing up to avoid being hit. That's not fun, it's tedius, and I suspect in-app purchases are the only resolve to this tedium. Some monsters look like lamps, I was taking damage and didn't realize it was a floating dungeon decoration hitting me until I was dead. Also, looting is fickle, at best.
The game as a whole is a remarkable effort, just not a finished or polished one. I wouldn't recommend it at this stage, perhaps after some polish and balancing. If someone were to show this game to me before I purchased it, I would have asked-- so how long until beta is over, 6 months?
If you buy it now, do so only to support the developers effort. If you're looking for a polished game, you're going to have to wait on this one. I urge the developer to listen to reviewers here, and not give up or take these reviews harshly, use them to fuel your efforts, as it will most definitely pay off immensely if you do. Stroking egos here isn't a better game going to make.
