And to think your cellphone was only able to play Snake...
Amazing release and follow-up to NFS: Undercover. The graphics are the best I've seen on the platform. Asphalt 5 was awesome, and Real Racing was the best when it was released... but there is something about Shift that is just unbelievable and rival all other handheld platforms and their graphics. The PSP version is no where near as good in my eyes... and this is all on a PHONE. Apple has truly created the future of portable gaming... well, with the help of the other 30,000 games available. Some are the "moron tests" sort of type, but other are arguably the best on ANY platform. It's tiny (try putting a PS3 or 360 in your pocket), and it's specifications are simply unbelievable. Better than my old PC was in 2005.
The scenes in NFS: Shift are bustling with activity, really showing off what my 3GS is really capable of.
EA really went all out here... the amount of objects on screen at once I haven't seen in any other iPhone game (even five-start ones I own) nor have I seen the reflections, cars, the AI... the "feel" is, to me, on top all of the handhelds... you know Nintendo and Sony are scrabbling to get their "buzz" back. Maybe they can start releasing iPhone games. :)
EA earns my respect for not just porting their games to the iPhone from other mobile versions; they really squeeze all the juice out of this system they can to deliver beautiful games with gameplay you can only find on an iPhone/iPod Touch. I haven't played this on an iPhone 2G/3G, just the 3GS, so I am unsure of its performance there. On the 3GS the gameplay is super-smooth and stunning in what it is capable of packing onto the device's screen. The environment—buildings, skyline, immediate surroundings, are incredibly detailed, designed, rendered, and packed dense.
If you like to race on your iPhone, you will not at all be disappointed in EA's latest release in such an incredible line-up of superb iPhone/iPod games. Need for Speed Shift is my new favorite. You will love it; well, at least I hope you love it as much as I have. I've only been playing for the past few hours: as soon as it hit the store. I have been waiting so long for it to come that I was worried I would be too excited and therefore it could be a letdown... NOT the case at all. EA Delivered.
THIS GAME DELIVERS.
As for this review's title; it was just a couple of years ago that Nokia offered you a terrible version of Snake to pass your time, normally it was more boring than what ever I was trying to escape from by playing a game. Apple changed mobility for ever, and developer like EA cement that fact. Snake... HA.
Ok, I'm off to continue playing my new addiction. Wish me luck... :)
Great until Tokyo 3-6
This game was excellent until Tokyo 3-6. It crashes everytime I try to play that race. I can play race 3-7, however all the races after 3-7 are locked until I can play 3-6. I'm stuck half way through the game with no way to play. Only giving 1 star since I can no longer play the game until EA fixes this glitch.
Wow, Is Great !!!
This is an Asphalt 5 killer for sure, I'm enjoying every instant of it. Plus the graphics look great on my 3GS. Of course I wish they tweaked them up even more, I'm a huge Graphics lover and of course NFS game. But really the game is totally worth the Dough, Get it !!!! Won't be upset for sure !!!!
