Nightingale launches a marvelous contemporary fantasy for young adults, a grand adventure overflowing with wonders. Alternately laugh-out-loud funny and terrifying, there’s a sweetness and passion to this novel that keeps readers up long into the night.
David Farland is the international bestselling authors of nearly fifty books, including such award-winning novels as the science fiction masterpiece On My Way to Paradise (Philip K. D. Memorial Special Award Winner, Best Novel in English Language) and the historical novel In the Company of Angels (Whitney Award Winner: Best Novel of the Year). He is best known though for his fantasy work, which includes the bestselling series The Runelords, and his lovable and wacky middle-grade fantasy series Ravenspell.

A great read, well worth the price
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's obvious that David Farland spent a lot of time and effort getting the characters right, streamlining the plot and keeping the pacing exciting.
Initially I was hesitant to spend more for the enhanced version (I usually just pick up the regular ebooks), but decided to take a chance on this one. I do not regret the decision at all. The art and music are fantastic, and go a long way to enhancing the mood and helping you visualize the big events of each chapter.
The story focuses on a young man named Bron Jones. Bron has been trapped in the foster care system for as long as he can remember. He has been bounced from one home to another, and never managed to make any lasting connections. He has learned that he can only rely on himself.
At his latest foster home, Bron is going to learn that the world is far stranger and more dangerous than he could have imagined. Bron isnt human. He is a member of a separate species that has evolved alongside humanity. And most of his people have the ability to literally steal memories from your mind. And Bron is something even more dangerous than that.
The mysteries surrounding his parentage and identity are at the center of the book, and set the stage for future novels. Which I can hardly wait to read.
The book is awesome; app needs work
Nightingale is a great read. Farland has a way of crafting characters that really draws me in. The magic system is super-cool. I had an idea of the magic system coming into the book, but as usual, Farland blows my mind with how developed his system is. I recently read Farland's first book, and I see hints of that book in this one. I've also read four of his Runelords novels, and there just seems to be a resonance across books. Themes that echo off of each other without repeating them. I love it. The book is worth reading.
