What's New in Version 1.5.1

OmniFocus 1.5.1 for iPad is a minor update which fixes Review mode regressions introduced in the previous release and improves support for iPads with Retina displays.

Review Mode

• Fixed a regression which caused incorrect labels to appear for a project's review interval.
• Fixed a regression which caused a crash when entering Review mode for projects with a yearly review interval.

Retina Display

• Fixed display of custom Perspective icons.
• Fixed the swapped Sequential and Parallel images.
• Updated appearance of the shiny red and blue buttons in Settings.
• Updated appearance of Project, Folder, and Context caps in the outline view.
• Fixed a bug where the last 2 pixels of an item's note summary was not faded out.
• Fixed a bug where the content placeholder background was drawn at the wrong scale.
• Reused default launch and placeholder images for Forecast mode to save approximately 8 MB of application size.

Miscellaneous

• Improved the animation sequence when choosing an item from the Settings Menu in portrait orientation on iOS 5.1.
• The appearance of the Account Info button on the Omni Sync Server setup screen is now consistent with the rest of the Sync Setup.

—————

OmniFocus 1.5 for iPad added flexible weekly repeats. It also included support for the new iPad.

REPEATING ACTIONS

• Added flexible weekly repeats. When a project or action repeats every week, you can specify the days of the week the item should repeat on.

For example:

Repeat every week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

will create actions due on:

Monday, February 13, 2012
Wednesday, February 15, 2012
Friday, February 17, 2012
Monday, February 20, 2012
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
Friday, February 25, 2012
...

Important:

Please update to OmniFocus 1.10 for Mac and OmniFocus 1.14 for iPhone before using these new flexible weekly repeats, as older releases of OmniFocus do not understand this new repeat data. If you edit or complete one of these items using a previous release of OmniFocus, you will lose the weekday repeat specification.

Customer Reviews

Repeat function not working for me

Still has no encryption with sync. The repeat option for an action doesn't repeat for me. Some features like Flagging are a bit confusing, and could be clearer to use. This app (along with the iPhone and desktop versions) is too costly for the benefits. I have to question the five star reviews on here. Either they're company members or else these people don't care about value for their dollar. I told these developers to get real about peoples' security but they seem more focused on designing beautiful icons and getting the look right. It shows you how much they care about their customers. G.T.D. to them means "Getting Their Dollars." Over-priced and missing functionality--perfectly suited for an Apple App.

Spendy, but worth it

While OF for the iPad + iPhone + Mac isn't cheap, OF is the only task manager out there that, as far as I know, syncs directly with your Mac. I'm not keen on having this sort of personal data, no matter how mundane, on others' servers, so this was priority #1.

I'm very happy with the sync setup even though it doesn't always aggressively push data out right when it's added. Once one device starts syncing, all the others do, so I don't have constant mismatches.

The bottom line is that before I started using OF, I didn't get things done — and now that I have it on all my devices, I do.

One thing that might be nice is to get (more obvious) ways to create and manage folders — it seems like I can only do that from the Mac app. Also, I have the darndest time trying to figure out which repeat option I want — maybe more verbose explanatory text would help me figure out whether a particular task should repeat like bill paying or getting a haircut or whatnot.

Omni
